Cheetah’s origin story can be traced back to 2006 when it was known as Maze Agency, founded by a group of hip-hop enthusiasts in Dallas and Houston. One of their most notable achievements was developing the first-ever hip-hop website, Texas Mixtapes. The team’s innovative tools and techniques laid the foundation for the music websites of the future. The founders of Maze Agency were not content to rest on their laurels. They eventually transitioned from the streets of Dallas and Houston to the boardroom and the data center. In 2011, the company changed its name to Dynastack, focusing on cloud computing based around NASA’s OpenStack. Here they invented one of the first Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) platforms and one of the first quantum-ready software-defined networking solutions for enterprises.
Dynastack launched one of the most powerful public cloud platforms in 2012, drawing the attention of prominent companies like Rackspace. But in a surprising move, they ultimately ran back to the agency business, and in late 2012, Dynastack rebranded itself as Cheetah Agency.
